This is not BRDF control; it simply controls the reflection strength. As such, using a Falloff map in Fresnel mode will get you quite close.

      Heya

Yes I did think of Falloff but in mental ray I ended up changing values of 0.001 to 0.005 and so on, I would not be able to get such accuracy in falloff - or it would be quite hard uh... I do it simply by eye, I have my scan render and I just tune up settings.

I did try arch&design but I cant remember if It worked, I think some features didnt work so I ended up not using it with vray...

Will try the miafalloff in a min see if I can replicate mental ray look.

      Thanks, bye.

Can you post a shot of this material you are trying to reproduce?

Your reference image is CAD data? Anyway, I felt that Vray was able to reproduce pretty good carpaint, effects although I branched away from the actual carpaint shader too, so I was just curious. No worries.

No its a car that I rendered with scaned car paint. So I cant post image of test because car its under NDA I believe...

I thought that vraycarpaint is good too. But once I put next to each other the scan and vraycar paint they were nothing alike... I had to start from scratch hehe

It's a challenging material type for sure. The happiest i have gotten is a very complex material with 3 coating materials for flakes, and at least 2 gloss coatings, over the base material. It's damn slow to render with all the noise maps and AA required for it though
