  • Multimattes and gradients in blend materials

It appears that multimattes don't respect gradient ramps when used as part of a mask in blend materials.

Would it be hard to implement? I can work around it in this case but this was already my work around for vraydirt causing artifacts when using the bias on turbosmoothed objects.

You mean when using material IDs?

      Hi

Yes with matIDs, I noticed a black square on some of my multimatte renders and traced it back to my brecon gradient. I then tried it with a falloff map which gave the same result - no transition just a sharp edge.

I like how you can get your RGB for blend materials. I have reused a paint shader in several blend materials, I've also reused metals, and dirts and the only thing preventing good multimattes for these are the gradients that I've used.

      Thanks

Then no, unfortunately. But, in V-Ray 3.0, the material select element generates an alpha channel which is the mask for the specified material.
