Hi. Resently I've discovered one sad fact about glossies, and decided to write about it here immediately. I had a situation when the scene was full of objects with glossy reflection. Of course I understand that rendering of blurred reflection (refraction) is probably the most difficult task, but maan, the rendertime was EXTREMLY huge, inspite of very low glossy subdivs - 4 or even 3. I have come to conclusion, that Vray needs optimisation in the case, when glossy object sees another glossy objects. Currently it renders true glossy reflection for all subreflections in every objects, and this leads to ENORMOUS rendertimes. But hey! Since the reflection is BLURRED, we don't care what is beyond the first reflected bounce - another glossy reflection or sharp one. It becomes blurred anyway. So, please consider this one, since I'm sure FinalRender had this option from stage-0.
And yes, almost forgot. When Vray calculates IrMap prepasses, does it consider glossiness or not? I think it should NOT. Or maybe only one subdiv would be enough.
Thanx.
