We are planning to introduce the online licensing with the next service pack, V-Ray 3.5 - if everything goes well, that is. So far it looks like it.

      Best regards,
      Vlado

They could be a bit smaller though like the Logitech USB transmitters.

I agree and like the dongles as I use them at 2 different locations and sometimes on the road and its nice to just plug the dongle in and not have to worry about activations and such which are a pain in the a.. esp when someone like me is using 2 desktops and 2 laptops and of course not at the same time but they each have their own purpose.
        Cheers,

I prefer no dongle. However, I would want to be able to use V-Ray on both my desktop and my laptop.

The machine needs to be online every now and again - currently about every two weeks, although this is adjustable. I believe it's also possible to store the license permanently on a machine, but then moving it around is a lot more complicated.

                    Hi Vlado,
do you think this new system will help you fight the piracy better apart from being much more friendlier to your devoted and happily paying customers? ))
I really hope you say yes because it really gets me to know about all those monkey making living on 3D and paying absolute shit

I really want to keep my dongle. I set it up on a dedicated PC as a license server and I can use what ever PC I want dongles, and if I want use it on the go I can use a VPN or take my dongle.

I read some horror stories over in the Modo section of the forums about the o line system.

I have enough issues with online activations I don't want Vray to be one of them.

Probably not :/ There is no stopping piracy and there is a limit to the amount of effort we can dedicate to fighting it. Anything that we do, will be cracked sooner or later - it might take 1 month or a year, but the end result is the same.

                        Best regards,
                        Vlado

You will be able to keep your dongle. We recognize that dongles have some advantages and in some cases they are the best solution.

I wouldn't say they are horrific stories - users got things sorted out after all - but yes, it can be unpleasant. I'm sure we can improve things in that area.

                          Best regards,
