  • Vray Toon as extra text or separate render pass.

    Right now I have an animation where I'm rendering the objects with an "x-ray" effect and using the VrayToon effect to get a nice outline of the objects. At the moment I have to render the animation twice - once without the effect active and a second time with the effect active so I can get the VrayAtmosphere pass for the lines. Would be great if I didn't have to do this

      Hi,

      Actually this was requested before, but seems to be somewhere down of the list. I will try to bump-up it's priority.

        +1 on this ! we dropped the idea of outlines due duble render

        edit: did you ever tried to use a ExtraTex_map with a Dirt map as a material in passes? if you play with the settings in a dirt map...you can achuve something that might help...

            I don't know how much time will take this implementation and I can't guarantee this will be fixed so soon. Let me check that with our dev team.

                      Any news regarding this feature? It would greatly speed up my workflow if I could render the toon as an element and not in the RGB.

                        3.6 is out but reading the release note it doesn't seem that this feature was implemented.

                          This feature is available since 3.50.02 release. You can see it in the log:
                          (*) VRayToon: Ability to store the toon outlines in a separate render element;

                            Ok, yes. I thought the OP wanted the Toon effect to appear ONLY as a render element without affecting the beauty pass.

                              Correct. That's what I'm after as well. Seems like it "should be easy enough", but those are probably every developers most hated words.
