  • UVW Randomizer Map

So, now that Corona has a nice UVW Randomizer Map, can we expect it to be integrated in V-Ray soon ?

If you are using Max, you could always take a look at these

      None of those are maps.
Randomizing at the object level is only viable for modest scenes. It's simply nonsense for archviz stuff. I won't explode tens of thousands of objects to randomoize their UVs That's why doing it at the map level is vital.

if you are using Vray Adv, you can use bercon maps, it is doing exactly what you want.

Thanks I'll give Bercon maps a try.

edit 1 : Ok tried Bercon map and there is no way to randomize based on material ID.

edit 2 : Tried Vray Triplanar Tex. This is the first time I use it : I don't see any controls over the randomization. Just check boxes ON/OFF ?

heh, take it or leave it.
if you don't shy away from manual work you can use VRayMultiSubTex and just type in transforms you need.

We will be looking into the randomizer map at some point; we have not decided anything yet though.

                Best regards,

Actually I just tried and BerconMapping works.
It looks like there's some sort of bug: when you tick the box for the "Material"-based variance, it doesn't stay checked and when you re-open the map is unchecked. It stays for the "Object"-based though, it looks like a bug to me.
You can work around this by expanding the view in the slate editor to show every additional parameter and check the box there. It won't show in the UI but it works.

Hehe, indeed, the checkbox does work in slate mode only. Thanks !

This ranks to me on the same level as the VRayTriplanarTex did. Potentially changing/enhancing the workflow massively again.
                      Software:
                      Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
                      3ds Max 2016 SP4
                      V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

                      Hardware:
                      Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)

Apart from the bug in the UI, what the BerconMapping doesn't have that should be included in a randomizer? It does random offset, scale and rotation per object/material/particle. Maybe a node-based varation.
Having Chaos supporting (and recompiling) those maps really gives access to a lot of customization.

It lacks a step parameter. Especially useful for rotation in order to stick to 0/90/180/270 degrees, but cannot hurt for other parameters too.

                            Hello,

You could write issues about BerconMaps here:
                            https://github.com/Bercon/BerconMaps/issues

Then someone (me included ) might fix them at somepoint..

                            Best regards,
