Can you check the log prints for errors? In Blender's menus, go to Window > Toggle System Console.

Do you have other Chaos software installed?
Can you do Windows start menu > type "Change license settings" and let me know what it says?

Does it help if you restart Blender?

No! I tried reinstalling everything, but no luck! I also did a check the firewall exception, everything thing seems ok. Vray license server, Unified Login are able to connect. I am using Windows 11.

GiorgioAK This log points to the inability of the V-Ray for Blender addon to properly launch its rendering process from the file located here: c:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\4.2\scripts\addons\vray_blender \bin\VRayZmqServer\VRayZmqServer.exe (where XXX is your Windows user name). This may be, among other possible reasons, due to security settings (unlikely, as this is your user folder) or some missing system component. I'd suggest you start by checking for any logs in Windows' event viewer app which can be opened by typing 'Event Viewer' in windows start menu. Navigate the tree to Windows Logs -> Application and look for errors with Source equal to 'Application Error' and description mentioning VRayZmqServer.exe, as shown on the picture below.

Is this new version of V-ray using AVX2?

The event viewer show no error for vrayzmqserver.exe. I asked about avx2 because my computer uses AVX only, maybe thats the problem?!

Yes is does. Unfortunately, the process won't be able to start without AVX2.

                Could you check:
                - the error that's printed in the console (from Blender's main menus go to Window > Toggle System Console). There should be an error printed, similar to what was reported here. Error 1005 being the common hint that something undefined is triggered by our oversight to pack the latest Chaos components.
                - the version of the Chaos Unified Login installed on your end, you can check the version from Windows's Add/Remove Programs (see this for reference).

If you're getting 1005 and the Unified login is version 2023.xx, please re-download V-Ray for Blender, we've updated the build to include the latest Unified login. Install it, then log out and log back in and it should solve the issue, the steps are outlined here.

If you've already done that and you still have issues, do let us know and we'll dig deeper into this.
Hi yolov thanks for your help. I got it to work following the instructions.

To test, I used the bus sample scene. I liked what I saw initially but this is my first experience of using VRay so I have a long way to go now! I have used Corona in Cinema 4D for a few years and absolutely love that renderer and it is my aim to use Blender with Octane and VRay instead.

Not sure why but yesterday it worked, today it gives me the sign in option again. That's at the start with the black popup but also if I go into V-Ray > Account. Clicking the button does nothing.

I'm logged into Chaos Cosmos / Site / Forum and if I go to localhost:30404 it shows there's a license availlable. Seems there's still something off.

Could you check whether you are logged into Chaos License Server? Open 'Change License Settings' from Windows start menu and look up the IP address it is running on in the first 'License Server' box. Then open http://{IP}:30304 in a web browser replacing {IP} with the one from the settings. If you are not logged in, try to login in through the browser and restart Blender.

OzBoz Could you nevertheless make sure that you are connecting to the licensing server installed on the machine where Blender is running? Run 'Change License Settings' from Windows Start Menu. The first 'License Server' box should say '127.0.0.1' or 'localhost'.

I found out what the issue was since I also tried to start the beta of Envision (looks like an awesome tool). Envision said the 'Chaos Unified Login Service' wasn't running. Which is odd I think since I reckon it should automatically start. I couldn't find the service name but I used the start menu of Windows 11 and after I clicked on this:

                            image.png
Blender works again as well as Envision. I don't really understand why the unified login service wasn't running but maybe my feedback is a bit useful if others have the same issue. It would at least be nice if Blender did the same check as Envision so you know it's not working because the Unified Login service isn't running.
