You're right it's unacceptable and that's why we don't engage with timeframes for features. I do understand the emergency here but try to understand our point of view as well. If we could we will deliver any request as soon as possible and I think we've already proven that a few times. As you know we're trying to keep balance between new and reintroduced features in V-Ray 5 and focusing only on reintroducing features would inevitably delay the new ones. However the main reason is difficulty. The stereo camera isn't a trivial thing to implement and changes need to be done in a few places in our V-Ray 5 code including the regular physical camera which on the other hand might affect existing scenes and current setups which isn't a recommended move to do unless it's a major V-ray release. Not to mention that this should work with V-Ray GPU as well.

As workaround you can setup your project for use with the PV and use the Cinema 4D Stereo camera to setup your scene since stereoscopic rendering works fine with the PV (suggested above by YunalZobu)
To set this up you need to use the Cinema 4D Stereo Camera in the scene and set the Stereoscopic option in Render Settings to ON while using the Standard renderer as current engine and then switch back to V-Ray. It will work just fine no matter that it's hidden.
Set the Camera type to Spherical with 360 degree FOV in the Overrides > Camera rollout in Render Settings and render to PV for the final result. Any post production in the VFB should be automatically applied to the final PV render as well.
Since the Stereoscopic option in Render Settings is hidden when V-Ray is selected as a render engine we will make sure to unhide when V-Ray is set as current engine as soon as possible.

Thank you for the understanding and let me know if I can assist you with anything else!
Thank you, if the workaround works it's ok - Is this solution VR compatible?

Coming back to report that c4d pv workaround works - just checked with my team.

Many thanks for the help, but please make this info widely populated or implement properly stereo rendering.

Hi, I have problems in finding the right camera setup for the stereoscopic rendering.

I use the workaround that you described: So the left and right eye are correct for the angle of 0° BUT if you look around at 180° the eyes are switched. At 90° the eyes are behind each other. So it seems that the spherical rendering just renders for the left and right eye without "turning the head around".
Sorry it is hard to describe. But if you take a close look at the 2 examples (switching from left to right) you will see that in the middle it is correct, but to the borders of the pictures it get "messed up".

So is there a setup to get the correct 360° stereoscopic view?

                      Thanks in advance.
Btw: I think Konstantinos meant that issue in one of this posts?

                        Hi klex167,

In order to correctly render a 360-degree image go to the Overrides tab in the V-Ray render settings and under the Camera rollout set the Camera Type to Spherical. You also need to enable Override FOV and set the FOV to 360 degrees as shown here.
Also, please make sure that your image has 2:1 width to height ratio (for example: 6000px width; 3000px height).

Hi, I have no problem with the 360-degree image. I used exactly the same settings in the Overrides tab as you describe.
BUT the stereoscopic rendering with a "left" and "right" eye is not correct. My client tested the images with VR glasses and is disappointed with the result. When you "turn around" the eyes are switching.

I use the stereoscopic camera in cinema 4d and with the native renderer in cinema 4d its working but with V-Ray I get the mentioned issue. Do you understand my issue?

                            Hi klex167,

Thank you very much for your time and efforts to provide the necessary information. It is classified as a bug (VC4D-1993) and escalated to the Development team for further inspection and resolution.

                              Hey guys,

As you might have already seen in the Announcements section, we just released V-Ray 6 for Cinema4D, Update 2. With it, we introduced many new features and improvements, along with numerous bug fixes. We have now added support for Stereoscopic rendering and you can find more information about it here. You can download the latest builds from here. Thanks.
