  • A way to previs the Vray water node

Is there a way to render off a viewport playblast to show the rate and wave shapes? I cant seem to get anything to show up in the viewport, and the only option to test the speed of the node is to render a sequence...and thats not super efficient.

For viewport I would recommend Boss,so you can see the waves, also Vray water node is not good for oceans, however it would work for a pool or lake.

Im using vray water for a pond. Ive ended up switching back to just using the Maya Pond fluid option. Allows me to see whats actually going on in terms of animation in the viewport.

I agree. BOSS is better. You can get some pretty good result with that

Does the Vray water node when plugged into displacement animate in IPR render mode? Is it just me....I cant get it to update, and in the user docs it says nothing needs to be animated to create waves. When changing frames, I see no wave movement...without seeing any feedback in the viewport, or in IPR, its very hard to look dev using this. I have no idea how fast things are moving without doing full blown render tests which is super inefficient.
