  • Object select render element in vray 2.0 maya?

Is there an equivalent in vray maya for max's object select RE?

  • #2
    No.
But it will be better if we can connect some objects to all render elements (diffuse, spec, or other), to render just these objects.

Not for the moment, although it is on the "to do" list.

i agree, it would also be great if those objects could have mattes built into the passes for the objects you dont want in the element. kind of like material id etc

          What's max's object select RE?

How does it differ from object ID/matte pass/Render ID?

VRayObjectSelect render element (V-Ray for 3ds Max) allows to extract objects with specific IDs into a separate element. It actually renders the image (shadows, highlights etc.) instead of just creating a mask as the other RE. When used in "Normal" mode VRayObjectSelect is similar to VRayMtlSelect.

It is implemented in the 3.0 nightlies, as it was introduced somewhat recently. If you don't have access to those, you can either send an email to support@chaosgroup.com or wait for the next service pack.
