  • What's going on with Viewport 2 and vray shaders?

There seems to be some strange gamma problem going on when in textured mode and VP2?

Materials with straight jpg textures are always darker and 'burnt" in VP2, however the materials disaply perfectly in VP1.

Changing VP2's gamma to 2.2 does not seem to fix it as it is still off.

For some reason, Maya is not applying the image gamma and currently we depend on Maya for all textures. The only way to fix this is to reimplement the file textures and handle them directly by our own. This will work however only if you use file textures directly. If they pass through another texture, there is no way to fix this.

        Ah okay, that makes sense.

Maybe if I log a bug report to Autodesk? Or do you guys do that as well? Let me know and I'll submit something to them.

        Cheers

No, this is an issue with the API that we use. And I'm not sure if this is a bug, or there is a reason. I will ask them.
