Where did you get that one ?
I installed the latest nightly build available on Sep 24 2013 (for maya2014), and it's not a 2.40, it's a 2.25 :

On 09/18 there was a 2.4 version up on the site, but it wasn't labeled as a nightly. I take it that it was taken down?

Yes, it was pulled because it still wasn't working as good as was intended.

It was missing some filters and probably had a lot of other issues. Yes, use the latest 2.3 version if you want the official release. However there are bug fixes in the nightlies as usual.
