  • Need to render alot of particles from realflow

I´m trying to render alot of particles about 15-70 millions particles from splashes and foam created in Vray.
I can export .Bin and .prt files.

I know I can use the creat a particle system using a realflow emitter. It works great with not so many particles = around 1 million since th LOD does not work and the viewport showning 10 million plus particles just isn´t working..

Like in Krakatoa prt loader for example you can very fast and easy just control the amount of particles showing in viewport - sadly Vray can´t render particles from prt loader..

I´ve been playing around with partio4Maya but I can´t get the partio emit or partio Import cache to work properly either. It would be ccol to have something like a partio4Vray whoch just loads the particles in rendertime...

how do people render alot of particles in Vray for Maya?

According to the Realflow documentation Alembic-export is supported in version 2013.
Vray 3.0 also supports rendering Alembic files via VrayProxy-functionality which also have option to specify preview particles in the viewport:

Have you tried that approach ?

Edit: I was wrong - this works for 3DSMax , I didn't realize that you are using Vray for Maya.
However the same thing will be also available in Vray 3.0 for Maya.

I will try that! We are running VRAY 3 Beta for Maya so it should work...
Thanks a bunch and I´ll keep you posted on how it works!

      Cheers

Tested in the Vray 3 beta Maya and it works!
Now I´m gonna test and see how it handles 20 millions particle... memorywise...
Looks very promising - great work!
