    There's boredom at the end of that tunnel too, i tried. XD

    I didn't think of the h15 or of the Nuke, but that's because for the first i have the in-app browser (which works, most times), and the second because i often end up some OTHER place than the manual to find the info i need (after spending half a day ON the docs trying to figure out the simplest of thing. I SO suck at nuke...).

          Works fine for me, but I'm using Maya rather than Max... maybe try raising the frequency to something like 20. Also try looking at it on a primitive plane rather than a sphere since it's a 2D texture.

          • Nah, it doesn't matter what object you map it to, you just get perfectly vertical stripes, regardless of the object's orientation. Is this a problem with the shader, or with VRay OSLTex for Max?

            • are you doing precisely what the instructions say (no "wrap texture coordinates" checked in the sample posted above)?
              I tried the lot, they work flawlessly with volumes and objects (provided one doesn't try to map the 3d noise field to a 2d UV map...).
              So set the mapping to Object space, and turn off "wrap texture coordinates".
              Then it'll work.

                  • The Max and Maya implementations are a bit different since in 3ds Max we have to go through its own rendering API for textures.

                    • Ok sorry I didn't notice it was a Maya thread neither.
                      At least we now know it doesn't work in max. So maybe it should be specified in that OSL Additional procedural noises page.

                        • While i'm not aware of any change between 3.40.03 and the nightlies, this worked before 40.03 was released and afterwards (meaning it's either broken in the specific version, or there is some other user error).
                          Notice that's load -> change frequency from 1.0 to 0.1, render.
