I actually edited the SP1 part in my post because we later discovered that the crash was still there, it just needed some extra steps to be triggered.

The developer who looked at it was able to reproduce the issue, just once on the first rendering and after maya is restarted it've worked normally.
Is this the case for you?
        hi!

it this related to a specific V-ray nightly or a specific OS. I'm almost done with my first project in maya 2014, and havent had any crashes in vray? and i use DR for all my renderings including shader-dev and RT

          It's 2014 SP1 i might add

It's a very obscure thing so you might not have hit it yet.

hi... just wanted to know, if there is any further testing necessary from my side? Or do we all just have to be patient and wait till you give us green light?

It is the latter, I'm afraid, no further testing is needed. We're doing our best and it'll be resolved soon. Thank you all for you patience.

Our guys found out that the crash happens when we call Qt to draw the text in the buckets (like the server name for a bucket) in the VFB. We haven't figured out how to solve it yet (other than not to write any text, of course).

                      Best regards,

                        Hi all,
I have finally found the source of this trouble and it is in the Qt libs Autodesk uses. However I can modify our code a little bit to avoid this behaviour.
I just need to verify this solves the crashes not only on windows and that it does not break older versions -- then I will push the change. This would be the nightly after tonight's.

                        Best,
                        Emil

tried to render distributed with the latest nightly - no crashes so far ^^
guess we're getting 2.4 official build soon?!

                              THANKS!!!

if its like last year... maya 2014.5 should come in a month or two...
maybe we have to wait until those are out..?
