  • water texture and dissapearing geometry

    Hi,

I'm currently attempting to use the water texture to generate a simple under water shot. ( Maya 2013 ) have a test scene with a simple plane with divisions and a VRay material applied with the vray water texture applied in the displacement mat of the VRayMtlSG

initially it seems to work but then if I scale up the plane and render again there's seems to be what "looks" to be missing geometry...

to fix I've tried to apply a new material and then re apply the original material with the water texture, which hasnt worked , If i freeze transformations on the plane then the missing sections come back on the render but the water texture has been greatly diminished and seems to be unresponsive to changes to any of its settings ....

some help with this issue would be appreciated

    regards

Have you tried to render this without reflection and refraction?

Have you set the type of the displacement to vector displacement?

Hi, thanks for replying so fast !

yes its set with Vector displacement , I've just rendered out with the refraction and reflection off and applied a colour to diffuse and got this result attached

      thanks and regards

Is it possible to send the scene to our support at vraymaya @ chaosgroup.com for inspection?
