  • batch render - distributed render - render region mismatch

    Hi,
ok, i have a hardware setup as follows :-

pc win 7 (main machine) and a macbook pro (acting as vray slave) - maya 2012 - V-Ray: V-Ray for Maya version 2.40.02 from May 14 2014, 15:55:48
    [2014/Jul/16|14:07:47] V-Ray: V-Ray core version is 2.00.02

I'm working on an under water scene, which renders just fine when rendering a single frame in VFB, but when I set of a batch render using a .bat file i get these discrepancies between the render regions , please see images ,
on the batch render the first few frame that are output seem ok but then after that the discrepancies start to appear.

the caustics are false , i'm using a spotlight with an image sequence applied, the image sequence is only 16 frames and repeated throughout the animation. (seamlessly tiled image sequence)

    any help would be appreciated

    regards

So, this happens only with DR + region + image sequence?

        hi Ivaylo,

actually its only when I do a DR and image sequence, if I render a single image in the VFB using DR there's no problems .

        regards

              Hi,

sorry its been a small while since getting back to this , I didn't manage to test to see if Vray 3.0 had the same issues when rendering this scene . I have another scene now again an underwater scene , and its seems to be having the same issue...

I have a directional light with an image sequence piped in (false water caustics ) along with an environmental fog to create the basic underwater atmosphere, if render the scene through the VFB all seems to be as expected, but if do a batch render the false caustics don't match up in each frame , so its something to do with the way the image sequence is loaded / shared between the two computers , any help is appreciated

I have a Boxx 8400se (win 7 , dual quad core xeon 3.2 Ghz processor, quadro 4000 graphics card , 16GB RAM ) as the main computer connected to a macbook pro (yosemite, intel i7 2.4Ghz, AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB, 16GB RAM)

                Hi,

It would be very helpful if you can send us the scene file for investigation.
You can post it here or send to our support mail (support at chaosgroup.com)

                    Thank you.
I managed to reproduce the issue with V-Ray 2.4 build.

Edit: It seems to work fine in V-Ray 3, I will check if we can move the fix to the 2.x builds.
