  • Tweaking Substance materials make Vray GPU going to crash

When I get a Substance material and I start to tweak the lights, after a bit I get the "out-of-mem" message. The workaround is to use a lower texture resolution as 256x256, but the work on the model to tweak will be different from the final render.

I suspect this is a sort of "normal behaviour since I think that Vray GPU has to bake the texture to show on monitor the results of the Substance material. There's maybe a way to optimize this in the future code or we will have just to buy GPU with more VRAM? (or use the future vlink from the 2080 gpus?)

    Thanks!

    A.

    Hey, axelts,

Thank you for the feedback. What is the Substance for Modo release and what is Substance mod which you are used?

    Cheers,

      Hello Boyan,

I've installed the 2.7.0 version of the plugin with Modo 12.1v1 and Vray 3.6. I've tried different Substance materials and all suffer from the same issue... What is the "Substance mod"?

Aaluxado, what setup are you using? Based on screenshot I think it's mac? External box with nvidia gpus on official mac or hackitosh? I have hackintosh with 1050ti and it is constant crash-fest on modo with vray GPU. CPU is ok. (And strangely Redshift GPU in Houdini doesn't crash). Just vray in modo. Do you have problem ONLY with substance textures?

          Howdy, photoindra,

I remember we've been discussed this item on Facebook and V-Ray for Modo doesn't support officially Hackintosh - OS.

          Cheers,
