Just downloaded the new update, loving it so far, but I noticed this RPC Proxy. Is there a .vrmesh library to download from?

Hi Kraig,
There is no .vrmesh library (yet). Proxies can be created in any software capable of producing .vrmesh or .abc files.
I think you can have a look at the following thread: https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...y-for-sketchup

Hi Mick,
Revit doesn't let us import proxies directly into Revit. That's why we need the RPCs. They are stand-ins for proxies and allow for adding detail and realism to the renders.
Kraig_Cline , use the ply2vrmesh tool that comes with the V-Ray for Revit installation to convert 3d objects to V-Ray proxies and use them in V-Ray for Revit later on. (The tool is available in V-Ray 3.60.02 version which can be downloaded from our website)

It's a command line tool. Here is what you need to do.
Run cmd from the following location: C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\V-Ray for Revit\tools
Then type in: ply2vrmesh
Drag & drop the .obj file over (this will automatically add the path to it)
Then type in the output name.vrmesh
And click enter. And you will find the .vrmesh in the tools folder.
Let me know if I should send you a screenshot. But once you run it by yourself, you will know how to use it.

Ok I'm where I need to be I believe. now the issue is my Syntax I guess. dragging and dropping files isn't populating the location/file name so I'm having to type it in.. incorrectly obviously. So if I could just see a proper conversion and the syntax I should be able to get this to go through. Thank you again.

Sorry to be bum rushing you with these questions and self assists. I did get the .vrmesh conversion to work. Now how do I get the materials that came with the .obj to apply to the .vrmesh? It's probably in the options but I couldn't find anything to apply it, and the material options were a tad confusing.

You can't take them from the .obj. The ply2vrmesh tool will convert the .obj to .vrmesh taking the material IDs of the obj. Basically the IDs indicate the geometries of the model that are meant to be made of the same material. In V-Ray for Revit you will see them appearing in different colors and you can replace the colors with V-Ray material. However, you will need to create the V-Ray materials by yourself or use the library...
