      Hi alicja_tomaszewska

      Would it be possible to share the support ticket number so I can check in our system (you should've received one by email)? Thanks!

          Hi,
          I too am having problems with Vray5 & Rhino 7 freezing.
          It's random, and frustrating.
          Here is my post from Rhino discourse:

          Rhino 7 sr1 & Vray 5 hotfix1.
          I’m getting random system freezes typically right after starting a production render (rtx, cuda or cpu).
          I wait a few minutes, then hit reset button, reboot, back to work.
          Happens with new files created in R7 & Vray5, or updating older files (R7 & Vray next).
          Doesn’t matter if its a small/simple file (no fur), or larger complex file, sometimes 1 freeze per day, other times a few in a row then it goes away.
          Sometimes first render freezes, other times it’s after working several hours and successfully rendering dozens of frames.
          The only action that may be triggering this is closing current Rhino file, opening another to use copy/paste, then back to original Rhino file.
          During the fall I evaluated with Rhino6 & Vray next, seemed stable. But I was doing simpler things.
          Glenn

            I was away during the holidays nikoleta.garkova . I emailed you the Rhino Crash file you requested. The issue seems to be persisting. alicja_tomaszewska and glennco have you noticed if it is files that were worked on with previous versions of V-Ray (ie. V-Ray Next) when the crashing happens? For me it seems as though whenever I am opening a file were previous versions of V-Ray were used it crashes. It always gives the message that the file will be "upgraded to the most recent version of V-Ray", runs for a bit, and then crashes. I'm curious if there is an issue the way that V-Ray 5 attempts to read older files.

              Thanks PixelPerson81 for providing the files over;

              I've managed to find your ticket, alicja_tomaszewska, you should have a reply by now;

              glennco, the issue you are describing seems a bit different. Would it be possible to provide more details regarding when exactly are the freezes occurring; from what I understand that would be during rendering - are you getting any warnings/error messages in the V-Ray Progress Window? Are you using any third-party plugins and have you tried disabling them prior rendering with V-Ray? Would it be possible to forward the log files so we can check if they can point to anything specific? You can find them in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Chaos Group\V-Ray for Rhinoceros\vrayneui

                Nikoleta,
                thanks for the reply. I'm using stock Rhino 7, I included the Rhino dump file in my post. No other plugins than Vray.
                I'll pm you the Vray log file.
                Glenn
                edit sent to support email, as PM wouldn't allow 7Zip file attachment.

                    Hi PixelPerson81 - our devs are looking at this as we speak; the crashes have been reported and logged in our internal system and it appears they were not related to our plugin - can you try with Rhino 6 version 6.29.20238.11501? Do send the dump files again if you experience another crash. I've followed up with in our email conversation with the same request. Thanks!

                      There is a (good) chance the freeze issue is driver related.
                      Studio driver 460.89 12/15/2020
                      Yesterday, my system froze when I wasn't using Rhino (or Vray), in fact i wasn't doing anything.
                      I also notice when the freeze happens Nvidia Geforce experience (icon) disappears from Windows taskbar (lower right side).
                      Quick google search on 460.89 shows other users having similar problems.
                      Thanks,
                      Glenn

                        I was having the same issues before that driver update was released. The McNeel people were certain that it was one of the plugins I am using. When I uninstalled all of them Rhino opened fine.

                              i had several emails with them, with Diana Milenova to be precise, but they never find a solution....
                              so I don't know what to do to fix this problem.
                              any idea?
                              thanks a lot.
