      Yeah the black side is indeed annoying, and indeed present in max too

      There's another problem with single sided surfaces (or surfaces with inverted normals) with GI, that is not present in max.

          It's a png with a black background (with alpha channel), and when shown in IE it seems to replace the BG with blue...

          There's a problem with fresnell map and refraction.

          Make a default glass with a fresnell in reflection slot. Now try changing the ior in refraction tab. Result is incorrect. You have to change the refraction IOR in the reflection fresnell map to the same value as the IOR in the refraction tab to get a correct result.

            ... texture editor -> mapping -> planar world or object xyz -> scale allow only factors without comma like 1,2,3 ... but not 0.1, 0.2 ...

              ... if I resize the material browser window so that I can see all my materials, close and reopen it, my previous size is reset to the default size.

                I don't have that problem here. Maybe I misunderstand, here the size I set it to is remembered when I reopen, which is good imo.

                  ... tested again here: select an object -> browse -> resize window -> select a material -> ok -> browse -> window size default again.

                    • Layer Materials

                      I assigned all object's materials by layer, then assigned my layer's materials by importing files.
                      I then switched to Flamingo and re-assigned the layers.
                      I switch back to Vray and assign layer 1 with vismat 1 (by browsing), but it didn't really switch it. It got the assignment wrong- was using "brass" instead of "SS."
                      Something weird going on there.

                        I have read this some where in the posts, but I can't find it for commenting... sorry.

                        It seems like that the new RC1 makes RHINO to not to remember/save the layout, tools and stuff are being removed after restarting RHINO!
                        The interface (my tools) are reset to the original layout set before installing RC1.

                          I would be happy if this two bugs could be fixed as next, because I find no way around:
                          - texture intensity of emitter materials dosn't work
                          - reflection map and fresnel can not used together

                            ... if I set and directional light and try to "disable" the light, than it automatic jump back to "enable".

                              yeah I had this problem and didn't catch why. Now I know... too late...

                                ... if I select a spotlight and change the hardness per numerical control and press render (the light stay highlighted), than the hardness dosn't change. After the rendering is finish , the hardness value jump back to the previous value + 0.05. The hardness ring in the viewport show the changed size, but if I change the numerical hardness a little, the ring jump to the right size. Try it and you will see.

                                An other problem is, if I change the size of the geometric hardness ring, than the value chooser will be not updated.
