  • Rendered Viewport Transparency

This probably goes along with my rendered viewport bump map post.

If I use a basic material with transparency, it is displayed correctly in the rendered viewport, but if I use a vismat with transparency it does not show any transparency in the rendered viewport. I think it should, would be helpful when setting up view angles through windows.

    Thanks,
    Craig

Yeah I think that goes back to the other issue as well. we have fixed the bump map one on our internal builds but I'll double-check that there isn't any transparency issues.

I think I misread this originally. So what would you want the basic material to match up as far as transparency goes? I believe we make the refraction layer get treated as transparency at the moment. But did you want it to use something else? Diffuse transparency?

Yes, diffuse transparency, I would think.
My architectural glass materials never use refractive layers anyway.

Hmm - I see. Ok I suppose we could find a way of combining the two or using one instead of the other. I have to be middle-of-the-road with this stuff because some people do only use "real" glass instead of diffuse transparency. I'm sure we can figure something out.
