Re: DR issues- blocky renders here

Not sure what's going on with these disappearing materials you guys are talking about. The next beta build should have a fix or two for some material issues, but not materials that entirely disappear, that's a bit odd.

The issue with DR not communicating properly isn't too surprising of news. It's definitely performing better than it did in the past, but I don't think DR is quite at 100%. We are part of the Chaos Group now, and have access to some things we didn't have access to in the past, so hopefully we will be able to hunt down any DR bugs in the near future.

The product loading slower than "older" versions, is definitely not a surprise. The plugin should load slower than the 1.05.30 release, but it should render significantly faster than that version. Especially if you're using components a lot in your scene. The product was rewritten using Python, C++ and Ruby, rather than just C++ and Ruby, so there's a little extra that needs to go on during runtime. We added Python to speed up development and to make our product cross platform compatible. So far it seems to be accomplishing both of those goals, and so the slowdown is likely here to stay. If you are just doing modeling and don't need our plugin loaded, it can be turned off in the SketchUp Extensions preferences, so you can leave it off until you're ready to mess with materials and rendering.

The error that says that you could not obtain a license, is probably happening because you're not running the shortcut for the DR Spawner. I think it's RunDRSpawner in /Applications/ASGVIS/

Re: DR issues- blocky renders here

Just heard back regarding my support ticket and I guess this is a know issue (BUG) they are working on. I guess we will just have to wait for the fix.

The issue seems to be related to scenes created using older versions of V-Ray. For some reason they don't have a "master reset" to clear old V-Ray data out of a model like Podium does. I tested this by creating an all new model and running another rendering and it seems to work just fine. But, when I go back to the old model I get these same random results and errors. There seems to be something associated with the old Sketch-up model that doesn't translate very well to the new version. Try creating a quick model from scratch and rendering it to see if it works.

I hope the fix comes soon!

Re: DR issues- blocky renders here

I'm having the same problems now.
I was able to render in network with other 4 machines before, with no big problems - except from the slaves staring too late.
This week I´ve had my computer formatted and after I reinstalled Sketchup and Vray (from the same installation files I had before) it started to render this way.
Nothing changed, I have the same programs and files as before and the slaves weren't touched. I was able to render the same files last Friday.
          I just can´t understand why!

So it seems that it isn´t related only to older versions scenes. I´ll try to start another file from zero and check if it's related also to "previous installations of the same files scenes" ???

I ended up reverting back to my old installation since it sounds like the fix will take a while.

                thanks.

I reverted back to version 01.05.30 because I found it to be the most stable version for me all around. I wish it had some of the features in the new version and the newer interface but I would rather it be working than not. Good luck!

Re: DR issues- blocky renders here

We are looking in to optimizing the scene loading time, this should hopefully help with the DR Spawner reading scenes too slowly. Not sure when we'll have a build for SketchUp to test, but it's in the works.
