Re: DR issues- blocky renders here
Not sure what's going on with these disappearing materials you guys are talking about. The next beta build should have a fix or two for some material issues, but not materials that entirely disappear, that's a bit odd.
The issue with DR not communicating properly isn't too surprising of news. It's definitely performing better than it did in the past, but I don't think DR is quite at 100%. We are part of the Chaos Group now, and have access to some things we didn't have access to in the past, so hopefully we will be able to hunt down any DR bugs in the near future.
The product loading slower than "older" versions, is definitely not a surprise. The plugin should load slower than the 1.05.30 release, but it should render significantly faster than that version. Especially if you're using components a lot in your scene. The product was rewritten using Python, C++ and Ruby, rather than just C++ and Ruby, so there's a little extra that needs to go on during runtime. We added Python to speed up development and to make our product cross platform compatible. So far it seems to be accomplishing both of those goals, and so the slowdown is likely here to stay. If you are just doing modeling and don't need our plugin loaded, it can be turned off in the SketchUp Extensions preferences, so you can leave it off until you're ready to mess with materials and rendering.
The error that says that you could not obtain a license, is probably happening because you're not running the shortcut for the DR Spawner. I think it's RunDRSpawner in /Applications/ASGVIS/
