  • Chaos phoenix flames vs vray gpu flames

    Hi Konstantin

Sometimes i wonder just for curiosity how things are with chaos phoenix.

How phoenix did the flames, did you apply a material to the flame? Or it already have a shader.

For me this a mistery and at the same time a very interesting software.

How big are the differences using kind of workflow to simulate a flame ( im not a specialist here, my flames does not look really nice) with vray gpu than with chaos phoenix??

Something is telling me that flames from chaos phoenix are really so much better than triying to match this workflow with vray gpu.

Also what kind of limitations do we have with vray gpu to match a nice flame.

What i do is get a kind of image of a flame and then use the sphere light to give it a light, i use a very low kelvin value to match the color of the flame.

It looks OK, not the best result but at least looks like a flame in a canddle.

The emissive material does not work with vray gpu.

What is the correct workflow with vray 6 gpu to create a great flame.

If flames are difficult for a canddle, i cant imagine the flame for a bonfire.

    Thanks

Is there a posibility to avoid the sphere light and at the same time with just the material láyer get a nice result of a flame with vray 6 gpu

I saw the issue emissive material is partial supported, (without emit on Back side, color opacity always on)

Why we always have to suffer in this...It is total dissapointed that even at the middle of vray 6 we have a lot of things without support with vray gpu.

It is like a happy face with vray and then a dissapoint with vray gpu, because when something works with vray cpu then with vray gpu this does not look the same or i have to change the workflow and this takes time and effort.

Why you are lefting materials at a half???

First the two sided material without support for multiply by front diffuse

      Then emissive material

      And finally the hair material

What else...???!!! You have to take care of your vray gpu users this is very frustating.

Instead off bringing ecosystem with enscape or other 3d softwares what we need is the total parity of both vray cpu and vray gpu.

Materials at a half...I cant believe the many surprises with vray gpu.

That is why sometimes i express my self like that very angry because this is not fair.

Vray gpu is still having a lot of unsuppprted things like materials, RE, vray effects.

Ahhhhh with vray cpu the flame looks really nice without the sphere light.

I hope you understand how do we feel when something works nice with vray cpu and then this does not work with vray gpu or looks very different.

Sometimes i wonder when this is going to finish!!!???

Click image for larger version Name:	20230823_005547~2.jpg Views:	0 Size:	914.5 KB ID:	1189089 Here this material does not work with vray gpu

This is not aceptable and it is very very frustrating.

This is becoming a nightmare...I cant believe this with vray gpu!!!

The other half is crucial for that material, without support for vray gpu this flame and this material does not work with vray gpu

I found another issue using the sphere light to light the flame.

If i tick the shadows it gives me hard shadows, can we have a value here to set the shadows at .25 or .5 like the specular and the reflection, just to have a soft shadow.

Flames Produce a really little shadow very very soft.

This happens when you have to change the original workflow to something that works but it not give you the best result and give new issues.

          Hi,

The emissive material is supported on V-Ray GPU.
I just tried a simple setup and it works for me:

Another thing I added in this project is a Omni light in the middle of the flame.
The Omni light shadow radius was increased to soften the shadows.

Note that you can set up a similar material using the Generic material's Self-illumination properties.
