Yeah, the txt part was removed, but when i try to load the visopt, dialog box says: 'Failed to load options from file.' But hey, it works now so that's awesome. Maybe you can help Dirk out next .

vuigegast, are you using SR1 RC1? that would explain the problem if you were...

dirk- is that one lamp the only light source? is it an omni? are you using physical camera? maybe you could share your visopt...

am not using a fiscal cam. But if it is possible to do that I would be really glad.
And a am using 2 lamps whit multiple light sources (al are emissive materials)

          (sorry for my poor Engels)

            Re: Night time scene

first off, i think using the physical camera would be good...mainly because of the control. i just find it much easier to adjust the exposure.

just got your visopt by email. I see you're rendering at 1600x1200 with IR/LC. it's usually a bad idea to make emissive materials your only source of light in the scene (it can be very difficult to get the IR settings right without spottiness).

what is the intensity of your emissive materials? Do you have any windows in this scene that will let in some GI?

the intensety is 800.000.. and I have one large window at the back of the scene..

Is it maby possible to send me a vispot. whit the correct settings for a interior night scene?

                Re: Night time scene

I'd like to help, but the visopt and scene lighting depend on each other exclusively. There really is no one "magic visopt" that does it all! I'll need a copy of your scene to get anywhere close to right. Is the scene small enough that you could email it as well? I wouldn't really need any of the materials...just the SU geometry (skp file).

Truthfully, I think it's much easier to get the GI and exposure settings close before I ever start to apply any materials. If you want to let me take a shot, what I'll do is strip all the materials from the geometry, adjust lights/camera exposure/white balance/GI to the best of my ability for this scene, save a new visopt for you, and finally send it all back and tell you how I changed the lights in the scene. how does this sound?

the scene is about 35mb. but I can strip al te interior exept the lights, and than send it to you. Would that work for you

                  regards

DW- just emailed you my tests (scene, visopts, and test renders). Let me know how those work for you...

looks nice.. So I shold use omni insted of emissive. And I will use the settings you just send me.

                        thanks a lot man..

                          Re: Night time scene

not necessarily…there are some fine examples of people using emissive materials in VR4SU to light interior scenes, I just haven’t had much luck with them yet. This example comes to mind: http://asgvis.com/index.php?option=c...15019#msg15019

it just seems like whenever I try using emissive materials, they don’t get sampled as well and that leads to long render times and noise/spottiness…but that’s probably due to shoddy settings and my lack of experience.

I guess my personal rule of thumb would be, if I NEED the geometry to emit light then I’ll do it, but not as the main light source. If I can use and omni or rectangular light to do the job, I’ll use an omni or rectangular light…even if it requires a little sleight of hand (trickery) . Maybe it’s my imagination, but I think the render time is faster and the sampling is cleaner and easier to control.

Anyway, good luck with those settings and your night scene!
