    Re: creating a desk lamp

You may find this tutorial interesting and useful. Its for 3dsMax, but lots of useful tips for interiors.

        Re: creating a desk lamp

        hi again,
as your comments friends, I encreased the scale of rectangula light, encreased its multiplaier to 5000, and also increased hsph subdivie to 80 and checked sun in SU.the result is really bette now, thank you. but

1)as you see the sun beams disapeared I guess it is because rectangular light isn't it?

2)I deleted walls and draw it again in SU, I imported the 3d file from Auto cad, is it possible that darkness of scene in previous rendering was also related to walls?

        thank you very much

          Re: creating a desk lamp

Right! I hadn't realised that you had placed the rect light in the window and I see now why it is stopping the sun getting in. You should check the 'invisible' box in the light editor.
We all have different ways of achieving the effect we want, so this is just the way I would do it (not necessarily the best or 'right' way to do it - but here goes)
As I said earlier - think photography!
If a photographer had a lighting situation where there was tons of bright light coming in through a window, they would reduce the camera exposure (you've done this) and then provide some fill-in light to reduce the contrast between the very bright light coming in from the window and the areas of the room in shadow and may be too dark. So, the rectangular light needs to be big, not very bright, and positioned in the room to gently light the dark areas - its just a fill-in light.
But first just try making it 'invisible' and see how that works.

          Good Luck

                        Re: creating a desk lamp

Much better. Although there are few burned places in the scene, so you might want to decrease a bit the intesity of the light.

                        Congrats

Final results looking much better. Maybe increase the camera speed even more and reduce the rectangular light output (I would start with 0 and increase until it gave the right effect) - At the moment there are no dark areas at all, and I feel there should be.
Look forward to the next one!
