ahhh yes..why is so hard to navigate to these videos on their site? I wish there was a direct section for all the video tutorials that have been posted and sent out in the weekly newsletter

          Re: New Vray Sketchup

well still playing with the new one. Old projects taht you have done before. migrated to the new engine. i think there are some difference. especially the textures. some of my textures are tiled now. but working with new document completely is sweet. I think one perspective to not frustrate yourselves is to forget somtimes what you do in the past and look at the new version in a new way. its like the old time when we have to create a nerw vray linked material hehehehe. I think the new material editor has so much to offer and i guess i havenot scratch the feature yet.

at the moment i have difficulty in the reflection layer. the multiplier of 1 has so much reflection. so now im kinda testing what are all these parameters..

i also like the nifty explanations of the different parameters in the render option, once you scroll your mouse on top of those arrows.

The previous versions automatically added a fresnel map to the reflection, but this new one doesn't - it's a uniform reflection. If you haven't changed the map to fresnel then that might be the difference you see.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

In our preview full version(1.05.30) we have fresnel effect enable by default, but in this new build we don't have fresnel by default, so the reflection layer has full reflection. May be this is the issue.

Does this version still suffer from the bug where if you dont have the options open that it doesnt remember material changes?
I ask because a model I am currently working on seems to forget that glass is glass every so often. Its the only material I have in the model at the moment.

No, actually now V-Ray material settings now transfer with the SketchUp materials, so you can setup component with V-Ray material pre-setup.

The new AO and dirt features are worth the upgrade alone in my opinion. Excellent stuff!

Improved parsing time and that materials now follow the SU materials is the killer features in my book. AO and Dirt is the icing.

i am seconding thom thom here.

but i think reading ies data is another icing on the cake and of course the possibilites of exploring more about materials... excellent upgrade in my opinion.

yeah i commend the developers for a job well done. there are still some wrinkles that need to be ironed out, but the new features are awesome.

Whats the best way to change the intensity of an environment HDRI? There are so many options now and the multiplier has gone... so I'm a bit lost!
