I lowered the noise threshold, and things sped up. Why wouldn't lower the threshold slow things down? Isn't .01 noisier than .003? .003 with be cleaner and slower, but in fact, it is faster.

.003 and .005 for the light cache gave me a clean images seconds (.4 denoiser)

One minute and clean enough for me! This is what I would expect with the 4090RTX. With my CPU, it was 8 minutes, with DR (44 cores) and 1 minute with the 4090RTX. I will work on DR and GPU, but with this test, DR didn't have enough time to kick in.

So what were your actual settings? None of this makes any sense.

You should expect to see 6 buckets with the RTX 4090(and any other GPU)

          I rendered the scene on my RTX 4090, took 2m 42.5s ... and on my 3090 takes 4m 20.9s
I also rendered on CPU 5950X 16-core, it took 11m 7.1s (here I'm using the standard V-Ray Renderer)

I changed NOTHING in the scene, I rendered as is

There is something wrong with your hardware setup, please run the Benchmark tool and report your scores here

You can also do a clean install of driver, and you need to change the respective settings in Windows and Nvidia control panel to get the optimal performance. Please follow the steps in my post

On another note, I can take a look at your setup(to save time and effort and to identify the issue) with remote access today or tomorrow if you have time, message me muhammed.hamed@chaos.com

          Best,

The scaling between the 3090 and 4090 is not great in this scene because of the scene setup, having no materials. This is normal and is expected to happen. You need something in the frame that pushes your 4090...Once you start adding some materials, you will see the power draw of the GPU climb to double what you have now

On another note, there is no need for Denoiser or DR rendering for now. Run the GPU on some of your scenes to make sure your setup is working as expected first. Here is a good scene that pushes the GPU to its limits, if it doesn't render on 4m ,27s on your 4090 then something is wrong

            Best,
            Muhammed

              Hi,
would it be possible to have the scene in 3DS Max 2023 format ?
              Thank you.

6 is about right. It's been my experience that once you add a vraysun it will ask if you want a vraysky attached to it. The only time I add a dome light is when I plan to use a hdri to light the scene.

i switched scene to: progressive mode, brute force and changed to nvidia AI denoiser and made sure my 2 4080s were on RTX mode not CUDA mode scene took 9m 8s. looks like it got to 3000-3500 passes before it shot up 56960. 2 rtx 4800s. i still have my old xeon e5-2620 v3 cpu @2.4ghz latest recommended drivers.

EDIT: i re-opened the scene and rendered wihtout changes and it rrendered in 7m 33s. huh.

Lol...the reason I like Corona better...faster render times on cpu since it's optimized for that workflow. Only using vray because of Vantage. It would take me forever to create an animation in Corona.

From what I see, V-Ray is still faster than them all.
