  • RTX Rendering

I've been doing some tests trying using cpu, cuda and rtx mode and in my laptop rtx mode was the fastest. But when i tried to use a mesh clipper it doesnt work. It's like the clipper doesn't exist. Is it normal or is it a bug?

Hi ricardo_feitosa and welcome to the forums,

Which version of V-Ray are you using?
If you are trying to use the clipper in mesh mode you need V-Ray 6 update 1 or later versions
And for the latest version the clipper is in a pretty good shape! we solved most of the issues related to clipper
If you have a screenshot of your frame, it will be helpful

    Best,

Now it worked, i realized what the problem is. IF you don't use "Use object Material" the render using GPU engine doesn't work. Only CPU.

          Hello ricardo_feitosa,
Thank you for your report. I have logged this issue internally as VGPU-6456 and linked your topic to it, so that if there is any change we will notify you.

I would like to note that the difference between CPU and GPU is reproducible if Use Object Material is disabled and no material is selected (None).
As a workaround you can create fully transparent material and assign it to Section Plane to achieve the same result as with CPU. Here is an example:

Hi, i have another doubt but not about mesh clipper but in ambient occlusion. I've been using ambient occlusion on Global illumination settings in vray asset editor when i used cpu engine mode, but i realized the ambient occlusion option vanished when we use rtx engine. Is there any way to render with ambient occlusion in rtx render mode? I've seen some videos teaching about using render elements then we have to usa another software like photoshop to join the image but this way totally disables the "batch render" option. I saw some people talk about dirt map and etc but i didnt find it

Edit: I just discovered about composite on vfb post render, and i don't know how to delete a comment here, just edit

              No problem Ricardo!

I believe this discussion on same topic of Ambient occlusion will also be useful to you (with some examples).
