  • VrayRT GI - Lightcache

Is there any correlation between GI bounces in VrayRT and Lightcahce as a secondary GI solution? It seems to be two same settings that controls secondary bounces exists: GI depth in VrayRT section and Bounces in Lightcache. How can it be? Маy it be there is some simple explanation I haven't saw in help?

Normally you should never change the "bounces" in the light cache section, either in the production renderer or in RT. There's a reason they are in the "Expert" view.

In any case, the light cache setting does not directly correspond to regular bounces like in a brute force solution.

So what is for the lightcache in VrayRT? Is it for secondary bounces like in standard Vray? If yes than why there is a counter of bounces in GI section of VrayRT? Or may be it is something different?

        Yes.

V-Ray RT GPU still needs to do retracing for GI near corners to prevent flickering and artifacts. The depth for this retracing is still controlled by the V-Ray RT GI bounces. I've thought about locking it to 100 like in the production version, but I haven't assessed the performance implications of that yet.

I investigate that increasing GI Depth decreasing performance. If it will be locked to 100 performance will be heavily decreased (from my observations).

Ok. So it's good I didn't do it then Like I said, needs a bit more research to find an optimal value and lock to that.
