The V-Ray Frame Buffer (VFB) currently appears to clamp displayed values to SDR output (1.0 display range), even when rendering values exceed 1.0 and using OCIO configurations designed for HDR viewing.
This prevents artists from previewing HDR content directly inside VFB on HDR-capable displays and breaks parity with applications that already support HDR display pipelines.
Modern HDR-capable displays (e.g. Apple Studio Display XDR, MacBook Pro XDR displays with up to 1600+ nits) allow artists to evaluate highlight rolloff, specular intensity, lighting balance, and overall image appearance directly in HDR during look development and lighting.
Current workflows require rendering in V-Ray and opening results in another application (such as Nuke) to see the intended HDR output, which interrupts iteration speed.
