Asset Placement in Enscape Window - User Test

Dear Forum Community,

As some of you probably already know, Enscape will enable placing and transforming assets directly in the render window in 3.2, though transformation will be limited in some CADs. Currently this feature is still under development, but last week we released the first preview that allows placement of single assets.

We’d like to find out how comfortable you are with the current basic flow.

I would be happy if some of you could participate in this short task-based user test, so we can get better insights.

Asset Placement - User Test

Thanks a lot for your time and support!

A questions was raised in the survey:

“Will we be able to rotate/scale objects placed from the CAD side?”

As long as the CAD/BIM-tool supports scaling and rotation, you will be able to do this in the Enscape window in 3.2. as well. As mentioned in the User Test, this feature is still work in progress.
You can find news and discussions related to our preview in the section News & FAQ.

Hana,

Can you please clarify your statement, Archicad supports scaling and rotation but enscape has not implemented these features, will this release have the ability to scale and rotate (z axis) in Archicad

Hello Nuge, thanks for your message.

The BIM/CAD-tool needs to support the rotation of all axis and scaling natively. We are aware that you can configure this somehow in Archicad. But for Enscape Assets in Archicad we will only allow the rotation for the up axis and won’t support scaling unfortunately.

Hana,

That’s a disappointment given that its supported natively within archicad and could be managed very simply using GDL code within the archicad placeholder object, it just needs Enscape to read those additional parameters.

Hi Nuge,

I understand your disappointment but as Peter and Demian already stated in this thread it is not that easy. Demian has forwarded your need for this functionality, of course.

Hana,

So has this been put in the too hard basket and therefore it will never happen, or have you decided not to spend the resources to make it happen at the moment?

Hi Nuge, as I said - this feature has been upvoted accordingly. Since it costs some effort it needs to be prioritized and scheduled properly. So, no promises can be made at this point.

I thought that it had been “prioritized and scheduled properly” for this release, guess not. bummer
