Barrett Lane Project

I had a Spider, but it was an older one. What would you recommend? The one I had relied on my eyes, which seemed strange. I want something automatic, if that makes sense.

I have a Spyder 5 Express running with DispcalGUI rather than the Spyder software. Seems accurate.

Now that I think about it, I had some device to hang over my monitor. I have been using Window’s Calibration, which relied on my vision.

Updates.

Second one’s gorgeous. First one’s great too, if the path and the edges of the grass were ragged up a little bit so they were a bit more natural, it’d be pretty damn believable too.

Thank you. Which grass edge are you referring to?

Probably more the path that’s sweeping down from the left into the car space. Architects might not really like you weathering their scenes all that much but it’d be great to see a vfx take on it rather than the idealistic one for the fun!

Gotcha! I also noticed that my brick is off on the concrete wall top.

For exteriors, reflections are almost unnoticeable, except for glass and metals.

Reflections make a huge difference to exterior scenes, even if they seem subtle at times. It appears that the house will be painted?? Nearly all exterior paints have a glossy appearance. Also metal gutters, fascias, etc are quite reflective. My advice is to use reflections [even if sparingly] & be happy that the extra render time is what is needed to get a much better quality render.

Hope this helps

Cheers
Jamie

I’ll try more reflection on my next project.

More reflection and I did a little work on the brick wall cap.

This looks great. I thought the same thing about a lot of your previous renders, the brick and tiled roof always looked a little “dry”. Having the extra bit of variety as a wash of reflection adds a lot.

thanks. From now on I’ll bump up the volume on those reflections.

Now we’re talking, looking great Bobby!
