Barrett Lane Project

Some early gray scales, but with simple materials and light setups, render times are insanely fast. I hit render, with progressive and GF+LC, and it was almost instantly clean enough at 4k.

I am going to keep this one simple and only use materials made from scratch. For exteriors, reflections are almost unnoticeable, except for glass and metals. I’ll start with basic diffused, unless it needs more, and I bet I’ll have fast render times with 3.30.03. Also, I renewed my Forest Pro, so hopefully that’ll be faster, too.

Nice and clean geometry, doing everything from scratch sounds like a great idea, that way anything that takes too long to render you can see what it is and what is making it take that long to render and learn that way.

Progress…

It is heart breaking when the client says, “can we raise the camera about 20’. so we can see as much of the back roof as possible?”

Ha! Nicely done though, I like the landscaping around. Used Forest Pro thing?

Thanks! Yes, I used Forest Pro on this one. I’ll be changing things; the front yard will be more manicured. I feel good about this one. It’s early, but I already like what I am seeing.

Here is an update.

Hopefully, the next one will not be 20’ higher like the client requested.

So if you don’t mind… I LOVE the overall detail, but there is something about the camera angle, and the tree on the left (maybe right too) that makes this massive house look like a little doll-house. It feels like the scale is completely off.

They’re looking great - your default leaves look really natural!

It might be the angle, but it is what it is, I guess. The driveway is pretty steep and I do have a small DOF going on, so maybe a combination of things are going on.[quote=“tashko.zashev, post:9, topic:49579, username:tashko.zashev”]

Thank you! I tried to keep it soft, but I am used to sharp, so I have to get used to it. Looking back at my work a lot of comments are they are too sharp. The single story part is existing and hasn’t changed; the two story is new. To highlight the new, I put the old in slight shadow.

Hey Bobby,

Looking great, would you do a “Beauty Shot”? I mean, an extra shot even if it is not for the customer, something you can do to show off?

I have seen a lot of the renderings you have done and quite like them a lot. It would be good for practice too.

Thanks! I have been running projects back-to-back for over a year, so the time is limited. When I upgrade my hardware I could cut my render times in half and be able to do more leisure work.

Update. I am using a new monitor and it was really washed out, so I added some contrast, along with other changes prior to the new monitor. I’ll have to look at it on more devices.

The back of the house is a free-bee, so I didn’t spend much time on it.

Like it, has quite a natural feel to it

Thanks. it went pretty smoothly, but if the client has any changes, there are a few things I think I’ll change.

good work ! I like the lighting and trees shading looks really nice .
I think the reflection on the windows is very strong especially on the second image and the ceiling is too perfect for my taste but isn’t that what all the Clients asking for
Regards,

Thanks. What do you mean by the ceiling being to clean? They loved the front and asked for zooming in on the tower in the back. Also, seeing the siding they thought would be the bomb, isn’t working for them, so they want the board and batten. It’s good that they are getting value out of these images. It would be might expensive to remove the siding they thought that they would like.

Looks a little too contrasty to me. Is your new monitor calibrated?

I thought so, too. I used Windows to calibrate. [quote=“glorybound, post:64, topic:49326, username:glorybound”]

Do yourself a favor and get a Spyder or similar to properly calibrate. IMO, it’s crazy to spend money on a new monitor and not have it calibrated.
