Posted these pics at a other big forum..not sure if I can mention its name..so I won’t. But I didn’t get a lot op response there, so I thought I post them here too and get the thoughts of other vray users.
These two renders are of a project that I’ve worked on with my colleagues at my job. Hope you like them!
I agree with you…but my boss who was the art director for this project didn’t like that corner because it was a bit dark, so he forced me to put a spot there
Very nice piece! My only comment other than what GoncaloP said, would be that there are no reflections on the floor material. I really like your background plate, it matches the lighting very well.
yeah… I left out the floor reflections on purpose. With reflections it looked nice, but without them it makes the floor look a lot warmer and the room more cosy somehow IMO.
Wow, excellent images. They’re amongst the best I’ve seen. Great attention to detail in lighting & materials. the brick wall is fantastic. Is there any discplacement on that?
You guys must have spent a fair amount of time on this project. I can’t believe have furniture you’ve got in the building. Are those planters 2D maps or 3D geometry?
I agree with adding a little reflection to the floor. All you need is to turn glossy reflections on to add a slight “sheen” to the floor. I reckon it would do wonders for the image, although they’re pretty damned good already.
Could you share some of your settings perhaps? I’m doing an interior at the moment and I’m still having trouble getting it to look good in VRAY. I’ve chickened out and gone back to Lighscape due to the short deadline.
For the other forum Sebastiaan. Keep posting your work here. We’d all love to see and comment on them.
The bricks are not displacement.. Just a high rez texture made in photoshop.
We had like a week for this project. We worked with a team of 4 people…but not all of them full-time. And there are more renders, but they’re fairly simular to these two.
The plants in the interior are fully 3d…they work great on a distance, but you don’t want to see them up close, cause they have pretty low poly leaves. But the plants in the exterior are 2d.
I´ll make a new render tomorrow with reflections to the floor and the spot removed in the corner. If I could do it now I would, but I only have the scene at work. If you people have more opinions to make it look better, say so…so I can change it in the new render!
The curtains…they were modelled pretty crap and I´m not really happy with them to be honest. I just drew a spline in the topview with all the curves to it. Extruded it down with enough polys. Used simcloth, put a material to it and voila. Hope that´s enough help. It´s really not that special.
I have the scene at work so I don’t know precisely, but as I remember it was a simple diffuse map and opacity map. I"ll check tomorrow and let you know
Ow for the people who are interested, I have a wireframe of the scene.
1) Perhaps you could add a cushion or 2 onto the sofa?
2) The rug under the study desk bothers me. The lighting
on it looks wrong, and I don’t see the effect of the warping
on the geometry from your wireframe. I reckon it might look
better with some discplacement on it instead.
Nice clean model. By they way, how long did it take to calc and render?
I used simcloth so that the curtains would hang in a nice realistic way…looked for the best frame in the animation and collapsed it to an editable mesh.
Hi,
I few more suggestions for your interior.

1) I’ll see if cushions make the render more interesting..
2) And I’m defintely gonna work on that rug.
Sorry, the renders are off-line. My webspace only allows a limit of traffic a day At midnight the clock will be reset and they’ll be available again.
I just started the render with reflections on the floor and I used a vray displacement for the rug. I’m rendering it highres, so I’m very curious how it turns out. I’ll upload it tomorrow for you to see!
