Can anyone explain what causes this effect when using Vray displacement mod? when I test my displacement maps on a simple plane they look fine but I frequently get these artifacts in actual model scenarios. I’m using 2d mapping with a vraycomptex mix of noise and a grass bitmap but even with a basic bitmap the problem persists.
Although those long polys can cause trouble and are to be avoided, as are the big ngon faces, this does work in the example I just tried using a similar shape, made from an extruded line/convert poly/delete all but top faces, so there may be something else wrong with your model or settings.

Thanks, that would be great if you could, I’m just running some different displacement maps through it to rule out a texture issue, I’ll upload a file soon.
Just to note; procedural noise does not work with 2D displacement.
I think it’s simpler than that, I had my displacement map on the wrong channel so it was not mapping the thing at all…
