Cannot run License Server

I’ve tried emailing Chaos repeatedly but only get canned responses (“Check our FAQs!” As if I haven’t already thought of that), so I’m hoping to get help here. I can install Enscape, but get an error message “could not locate Chaos Unified Login service.” So, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Unified login service app. At the end of installation it says “activation failed. Please activate manually.” So I go to the website linked and get “this site could not be reached, check the proxy and firewall.” I checked all the settings and everything seems to be as it should be. Please please help. I am ready to simply ask for a refund and find another rendering software, since this software is not usable and the company won’t help.

Hi @sharris , welcome to our Forum.

I just checked your case internally and you can be assured that this is currently still being investigated by our support team after you tried the steps/guide outlined in our previous reply from yesterday (re-installing the License Server, running the setup again as Administrator etc.).

Please stay tuned for another e-mail via the existing case of yours which will be sent out soon. Thank you in advance for just a bit more patience in this regard.

Please let us know if there is any workaround in the meantime.

The only way that I’ve found out was the roll back to 4.0 version.

Actually, I’ve fixed this with some Trial & Error.

Here is what I did.

  1. I uninstalled both Chaos License Server and Chaos Unified Login.

  2. Went to these folders and deleted the folder (make sure you have your user names):

C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Chaos - Delete “UnifiedLogin” folder

C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Chaos - Delete “VRLService” folder

  1. Remove “ChaosULA:ula” and “ChaosUnifiedLogin:ula” from Credential Manager > Window Credentials

  2. Restart your machine.

  3. Install the latest Enscape Preview. (Run as Administrator) - Enscape-4.2.0.1582-preview3

I already had this installed, but just installed it again to re-install the license server properly.

Then, it worked!

Honestly, I am not sure which of the above processes fixed it.

But, at least thought to leave this in record to fix others.

Man! shake your hand tightly,

when the support service is silent - You are the only one who helped from all over Google.

(it was the deletion of entries from Windows Credentials and reinstalling Enscape that fixed the problem)
Thank you, bro!

josephkim626, also wanted to say … Thank You!!! Your guidance/instructions saved me!!! So appreciate you.

josephkim626 you’re a lifesaver - I have never been more frustrated by an install / license than the 6 hours of torment using the failed sign (emailing customer support and searching the internet + uninstalling, firewall exceptions, etc) in just like you described. It finally works after going through all the steps you noted - thank you so much!

Hello I have spent two days trying to sign in to use my escape license on Rhino. It appears that apart form a useless AI chat there is no customer support in CHAOS apart from this forum, I have been told that an agent will help my and been given a ticket 4 times. I am having the same issues that everyone in this forum seems to be having.

Sign in button doesn’t work, when I reinstall everything (several times) the sign in part of the installation doesn’t appear, it just skips to finish on both escape installation and license server. Its incredibly frustrating. Can someone please help?

Hi @matt_webb , and welcome to our Forum.

Through the support case(s) of yours, I can tell this problem has been resolved at this point. Should you experience any further issues in the near future though, please feel free to simply reply back to our support agent(s) once more accordingly.
