Yes, I do render that way. Here are some updates.
Darn!!! Bobby!! This is quite nice I must say!
Did you just catch some Pokemons on this? This stuff is really nice, I quite like it.
Thank you! My kids have been doing the Pokemon thing, but I have to say, the excitement is wearing off for them ![]()
Nice thing is your use of dof and glow are getting more subtle with time - great work ![]()
I learned a lot from you guys. I graduated from Chaos Forum University.
nice work! yeah Pokemon has crept into the renders ![]()
When you think about the cost of the license the feedback and support you get from chaos makes it worth many times more!
Amen! Worth its weight in gold.
I see a lot that needs to be done; lacks detail in the kitchen cabinets. Also, my curtains were sending my render times through the roof, so I just deleted them. I need to get something on there that works. Each view, rendered at 4K, were a little under an hour.
When I say it doesn’t work, I mean that it doesn’t work like I think it should. The bloom/glare does affect the image, but not on the scene’s hotspots; it affects the whole image equally. I would like for it to put nice big glare on things like can lights. The was a standalone software that did it, but it was clunky and I don’t think that it is around anymore.
I was surprised to see that there were only 2 small windows providing the natural illumination in the space. The view looking towards the kitchen feels like the light is coming from a glass curtain wall instead of those 2 small windows.
The view looking towards the window wall looks like it has a large light plane behind the camera shooting into the scene to illuminate it. This flattens out the image and reduces realism.
The other thing that jumps out at me is color temperature of lights… Playing with blue hues from the exterior and warmer interior sources will make the space feel more inviting and less cold.
The first 2 cameras could use some additional studies. They don’t feel as natural as the rest of the cameras.
Looks great Bobby!
all BF/LC I presume?
vdenoise?
Thanks! Yes, BF+LC with Denoiser. I could have rendered these out in 10 minutes, using lower V-Ray settings, but I left everything at default. I tested one with 1/8 and Denoise and it looked great, however, I kept things at 1/24 because I didn’t want any surprises. I did these over and I’ll post an update soon.
Looks pretty cool but maybe a bit too foggy at first glance. What do you mean LUTs? Just gamma or?
what does the sample rate look like now since you lowered the settings?
I haven’t looked at the sample rate in a long time. I stopped enabling it as an element.
You’re dead to me Bobby.

was wondering how many people stil optimise scenes anymore, i mean its nice and all but who spends time on that really?
If you’ve got 100 of the same shots and you can get them ten percent quicker then that’s a lot of time saved. If you’ve got 100 totally different shots then there isn’t a trend or a pattern that you can apply so that’s not worth it. Depends what area you work in ![]()
