Hi I’m not sure why, but lately opening up CXR files and Corona Image view crashes my PC, theres no Mouse or Keyboard Control, screen is still on, I have to manually switch it off and reboot. I can’t seem to see any CPU spikes.
RTX 3070
AMD 5090XT
ASUS Prime B550M-A
Memory 128GB
Corona version: 15 (Preview Build Jan 26 2026) It crashed on the previous version too.
Hi, that doesn’t sound like something the Corona Image Editor or other software could do. Sounds like a driver or hardware issue. Is everything else working fine for you, for example rendering with Corona?
I don’t know if its a windows update, theres been no hardware changes.
I’ve updated the latest Nvidia drivers and the latest windows updates and it seems to be okay, will know for sure in a couple days.
Thanks
Sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier.
Okay it happened again, it happens when I use the middle mouse button to zoom in and out.
Could you please:
-
Contact us here with a sample CXR file that we could use to try to reproduce the crash
-
Download and install the newest version of MS Visual C++ Redistributables - https://aka.ms/vc14/vc_redist.x64.exe
Then restart your PC and check if the issue is still there.
Okay the redistributables didn’t work.
it doesn’t seem to matter If I use a CXR file from months ago on now, with enough zooming in and out it crashes.
If its hardware, what would it be? GPU? Powersupply? or CPU?
Ok I check an older 18-09-2025 CXR file and I can zoom till the cows come home.
I hit the contact in your profile, but I don’t have an option for bug reports in the dropdown list, just licensing issues.
Okay it looks like its the Nvidia denoiser, seems if I change it to Corona denoise it doesn’t crash.
Does the Nvidia denoiser work for you without crashes in 3ds Max? Are you using the newest GPU driver?
