Hi,
I can render my model with material override without problem, but ticking any of the “Preserve Properties” property causes SketchUp to crash as soon as a render (interactive or bucket) starts.
This happens whichever material override type (colour, clay, etc.) I choose. All assets and materials are from Cosmos.
Setup:
SketchUp 2025.0.659
V-Ray 7.10.02
MacOS 15.6.1 on Apple Mac mini M1 16GB.
Can you replicate this issue?
Best regards,
Thibaut
Dear @Antioche , hello.
We weren’t able to reproduce the crash with different files in our office.
Could you please send us a test file which is crashing following the described commands?
Archive all assets by using Extensions > V-Ray > Pack Project.
Best way to send the archive is to use our contact form: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Please choose Product usage or questions under Request Type.
Waiting for it.
Best regards,
TS
Hi,
I managed to fix the issue: one of the materials were using a bump map file that was not locally synched by DropBox. Could identify the culprit in the File Path Editor.
Once the file restored on the local disk, material override worked as expected.
Thanks for double-checking…
Best regards,
Thibaut
Thanks for sharing, Thibaut.
Interesting detail. Great that you were able to catch it on time!
Contact us again if needed.
Actually, issue came back in my file, even though all maps are accessible when checking the File Path editor.
Testing in a separate file worked as expected…
Will send a packed file to your team for diagnostic via the link you sent me above.
Best regards,
Thibaut
I cannot find anywhere the "Cosmos assets refresh"button mentioned in the release notes.
Where is it in the UI?
Hi,
Please take a look at the example in our docs:
A Refresh button appears when the Cosmos Asset was imported with an older V-Ray version. Perform this action once to update the UI and unlock new features like Material Overrides and Variants.
If there isn’t a newer version of the asset, no Refresh button will be visible.
I would like to share that thanks to Actioche assistance the issue was identified and logged in our system as SK-5571.
The crash is caused by the combination of two things: both global Material Override Preserve Properties and Material Overrides of the Cosmos Asset enabled.
Hello @Antioche !
Thank you for reporting this issue. I would like to notify you that the crash is fixed in the new V-Ray 7, update 2.1.
Kind regards,
Ivelina
