Hi all here is my first (small) commercial project that I did whit the new Vray using:
-Ambient occlusion
-The new fur plug-in for SU
-Using a new material to create the light effect on the lamps in the living room (a first try)
C&C most welcome, hope you like it
the new version of Vray is now much better than it was, would be great if it ware able to handle larger file size than 50mb… that is the max that I can work whit now
Re: DWanimations First small comercial VRay 1.48.83 project…
very nice indeed. 8)
If I may :
I see some blotches on the ceiling.
Did you use irradiance map ?
Since I use universal QMC, I don’t get any blotches anymore.
I did some test with the 1.48.33, I was very pleased but since the distributed rendering isn’t working I can’t get a proper workflow.
I hope the update won’t be too long to come

Nice one Dirk! Looks very nice, great textures! I don’t like the somewhat old fashioned chairs but looks very nice. What did you use as material for that foot of the white chair? Looks a bit strange, first I thought it was the floor mirroring but it isn’t Keep up the good work!
Re: DWanimations First small comercial VRay 1.48.83 project…
great render again..very nice materialization. The wood-texture of the beams is tremendous!
Only the bricks behind the window look a bit strange, but that is due to reflection i guess. And the (wood?)material of the chair-base looks a bit strange.
Nice work!
Re: DWanimations First small comercial VRay 1.48.83 project…
i guess i’m a little late for comments, but great beams material…
where did you use the fur pluggin? in the carpet?.. i think it would be better if you increase density a little…
i liked a lot the mood of your render…
Re: DWanimations First small comercial VRay 1.48.83 project…
DW, you are really coming a long way with vray bud. These are some of your best that I have seen. I am very impressed. A few crits to help: I agree about the splotchiness (increase your settings/subdivisions and you should be good). The wood floor looks more like a viny sheet material… Is that what you were going for…a bit of bump should make it look more like wood. And the wood beam material looks a bit odd, but it may be because I am unfamiliar with that type of look, because it doesnt like tiled or anything like that..just not used to it i guess. But keep up the good work and Im anxious to see your next project
Re: DWanimations First small comercial VRay 1.48.83 project…
Hi All thanks your your great tips/compliments/critics…
I appreciate it. I was fine tuning the render a bit.
-changed some materials.
-tried to remove the spots on the sealing. (used HSph. Subdivs 999) :S
The carpet is done by the fur plugin and I have to say, if used correctly you can great a better effect than displacement.. but I am sting learning how to use it because is very hard for Vray to render it without crashing.
the textures of for the beams are from: http://www.cgtextures.com/
and the plant is from the 3Dwarehouse
Also I did a test in PS to create a evening mood without rendering a new picture… just using PS, pleas let me know what you think..?

As far as the night time images. I’m not sold at all because i can see the bright white outdoors. Right now it looks as if you just turned the lights off.
If you include a night time background it will make it read easier as a night image.
And once you do that i think you would have more freedom in making the illumination a bit brighter just so your clients can still read what things are.

Dirk, these are superb - to me the blotchiness is not important and doesnt distract from your fantastic scene. I love the crispness of them, very nice work man keep it up. Look forward to seeing more soon.
