Enscape Asset Library Integration in ArchiCAD [unofficial]

Archicad Preview:

Added preview images, added description and keywords for searching, added grouping by categories

Archicad 2D View:

Top View Image, Side View Image, Symbolic Top View from 3D, Symbolic Side View from 3D, Top View Image and Symbolic View from 3D, Side View Image and Symbolic View from 3D, Custom View Image

Archicad 3D View:

Note: Archicad Object appears as black box in Elevation/Section:

Note: Enscape Asset duplicate object:

When using the application “Enscape Asset” sometimes objects are duplicated (original: “Enscape_ObjectName”, duplicate: “Enscape_ObjectName0”, “Enscape_ObjectName1”, …). In this case, select the object from the library and delete the duplicate.

This is amazing, will have to test it… one of the major hindrances from Enscape with archicad, placing Enscape assets and views them on archicad.

Where can WE see more about this, updates etc?

Cheers and thank you!

Ok just tried it and it works well for the floor plan (top view) as it uses a bitmap with alpha that can be placed anywhere. Only issue is it will be a bitmap, not a grayscale or line style as sometimes people like to use it. As for the 3d view it does not work and instead of that bulky geometry that Enscape has, it can create a side view but it’s a planar object, not a real 3d asset. For me it’s not an issue for the 3d window as images are always coming from Enscape but for the section and elevation, it uses the bulky geometry just like the 3d window. There is room for progress here and this a great way to show Enscape and the guys from Chaos the way on how to do it and finish the job inside Enscape. This integration of assets inside Archicad is needed and crucial for drawings like plan view, elevations and section…

Hopefully WE will have more news about this soon±

Cheers

It is impossible to work with real geometry of objects, Archicad will freeze when using heavy models, and the use of real geometry and textures from Enscape is most likely protected by copyright.

Perhaps this note will be useful: Archicad does not support displaying images from a 3D view on elevations/sections (including its own libraries). Black squares will be displayed. By default, display of geometry is enabled on elevations/sections instead of black squares (Parameter: Elevation/Section View Geometry). Images on elevations/sections can only be placed separately (use 2D View > View Type > Side View Image), more details at the link:

Image: Top view with white fill. Enscape Render saves such images alpha channel with artifacts (but this can be solved with image processing). Archicad cannot change the color of the pen outline. Also, the pen thickness will be different in the images. Example:

yeap, its a limitation from Archicad unfortunately… Let’s see how assets evolve for BIM authoring tools like Revit and Archicad. There is not much use outside the render for these assets, and BIM is not about rendes and visualization.

Thanks for the work and help!
