How do I fix this error between Anima Alive and Maya?

Hello,

I am trying to use Anima 5.6.1 with Maya 2005.3.1. The plugin installed and I can import Anima projects just fine so the plug is loaded. But the Alive Link isn’t working so I can’t sync between Anima and Maya. When i click the sync button in Anima i get the following error:

Synchronization is not possible when Anima alive™ is not connected to a Plugin.

So I cant send my background geometry to Anima so I know where to place 4D people.

Is there a solution to this?

Thanks so much

Hello @sean_brown

Is it possible that you installed Anima 6 at some point and then you went back to Anima 5?

In Anima 6 we introduced a new IPC service (used by the Alive sync) that was not backwards compatible. Therefore, if you installed Anima 5 over Anima 6 without doing a clean uninstallation first, that new IPC service has not been downgraded properly. That would explain that message because the Alive communication between your current IPC service (from version 6) and the core Anima 5 version is not possible, so the plugins can’t detect the presence of the Anima Designer app anymore.

One way to solve this would be to remove the “AnimaIpcService” and then perform a clean installation from version 5 again.

I uninstalled Amni6 and then reinstalled Anima5 on top of the previous installation and that seems to have worked. Thank you so much.

Thanks for the confirmation, I’m glad it worked out.
