Hi, would it be possible to add the ability to display people as lowpoly dummies without textures for really fast scene loading? E.g. only after selection would the full mesh be displayed. It would speed up a lot if we have a scene full of people.

The Anima plugin for 3dsMax has an option to optimize the performance of the viewport that limits the number of actors that are being shown in the viewport with their complete animated mesh. If your scene has more actors than the ones specified, the extra ones are represented as simple arrows / proxys.
You can modify that mesh vs arrow parameter in the Viewport settings section, in the modifier panel:

In the case of the Drop models, this option can also be managed individually, by selecting each actor and modifying their “Draw as arrow” parameter, as shown here:
If you want to have control on that parameter on the Drop models at a global level, you can use the “Convert Drop to Scene” button to transform all the Drop models into a standard anima scene, and then use the global parameter.
I get your point now, you are right, this option is not available in the Dropped models, even when you select them individually.
I will forward your suggestion to the Anima Dev team for their consideration.
Thanks! Because nowadays even loading a scene is a real ordeal. Anima tries to load everything in highres just for the viewport for no reason. ![]()

However, keep in mind that the Anima plugin does not have any control over the quality of 3dsMax viewports. What the plugin does is to set up the materials of the actors using the quality settings selected by the user, but only the render quality can be adjusted from Anima, in the project settings. These can be accessed from within the Anima Designer, or directly when creating the Drop project, here:
We don’t manage the texture’s viewport quality directly from Anima because 3dsMax already has the tools to manage their own viewports’ performance on that regard, here:
With those options, you can adjust it in different ways. For example, you can lower the quality to 256 or 512, or lower the AA, or disable the textures altogether if you only want to see them in the renders.
Yes, but it still downloads the full mesh and textures from the network, which are only subsequently scaled down for the graphics card. Far better would be the proxy principle.
