Materials messes up sometimes

hi

sometimes when i’m editing a family - like adding a new material, and then inserting the updated family into the main model, the material messes up, like taking an diffuse image from an other material, and then, when i try to fix this, the material that actually uses this diffuse materials messes up.

i’m not able to share any files right now, but are others having this issue?

it also often happens if i duplicate an material, instead of create new, the materials are somehow connected.

Instead of trying to fix the material, try a couple of things first;

  • re-load Enscape

  • cut the object that uses the material, then paste it back ‘in place’.

  • close Enscape and re-open it

as a last resort, close the application and re-open it again.

I quite often find materials not behaving, but seldom is it the material it’s self; most of the time it’s lost in translation between the program and Enscape.

thanks gadget

i will try that.

@Jorgensen_dk @Gadget_1 Is there a way to reproduce the behavior? Is it occurring in all projects or only in specific ones?

If only in specific projects, it would be great to receive a sample one for further analysis.

I’ve already raised a ticked and sent a model a few days ago.

(Just got a ticket response a few mins ago; seemingly you’re developing a fix which should resolve this problem - tells me that they have an idea what might be causing it.)

{Edit: ticket #44644 "#MaterialIssue" }

@Gadget_1 So we’re already working on it. It would great if you could refer to already existing tickets in forum posts to the same issue.

i really hope you soon find a fix for this - as it completely messes up my project :frowning:

I can’t find any logic in this issue, as it messes up materials that have complete different names and inside and outside families.

And I’m not sure if this i Revit or Enscape related.

Found this post regarding materials in Revit - it seems to solve my problems

Changes to duplicated material show up in the original material
