Max crashing during simulation when monitors are turned off

Weird issue this - but whenever i’ve ran a simulation on a network machine it’s completed the whole thing without crashing, but whenever I run one on my workstation overnight it inevitably always crashes a short time into it.
I just did a test where i start a simulation and then turned off my monitors, left it 5 minutes and turned them back on to find max had crashed with the error report up.

I’m using 2 monitors with a slightly different resolution - so when they get switched off a bunch of windows have been moved to the other when they end up back on, could that be the culprit? I currently have the gpu preview on in the viewport but i’m pretty sure it does this without that on too.

Hmm, very strange. We’ve had those too from time to time on specific machines only… We gotta think about a way to make it reproducible.

If you have time for tests, can you confirm for sure that the GPU preview is off and it still crashes?

Also, I suppose you are using a recent nightly?

the only phoenix component that is dealing with the video card is the gpu preview, of course we can’t be 100% sure, but let say 90% it’s the gpu preview. perhaps context lost or something like this.

Not very actually, it’s a few months old - i’ll update later today. I’ll do more tests with the preview off too, but I could’ve sworn it happened regardless.
