Max Hair and fur

Is it possible that a future realease supports Max hair and fur?

Unfortunately this does not depend on us; we have no problems to support them, but Autodesk must provide access to it from the 3ds Max API.

They made for Mental ray. It will be very cool they do for Vray.

Hi Vlado what is the latest on this? Still the same?

I know Joe Alter worked recently on this; I’ve seen pictures of it working, but I don’t know what are the plans on that.

On rendering hair and fur from the Shave&Haircut engine directly with V-Ray inside 3ds Max. I do not know if this was designed for the 3ds Max Hair and Fur specifically though - it might be better to ask them directly.

Just wondering about something:

I have one file where I was playing with Max H&Fur and it renders with Vray no problem, in buffer mode. In another file where I’m trying it the only way it renders is geometry mode - which I think is the expected behaviour.

I cannot figure out what I have done differently between the files though. What would allow me to use buffer in one file and not the other? Buffer certainly seems faster.

A couple of factors that I have found that may help, although they are probably well known already: buffer H&F only works with the Max framebuffer, and does not work with crop renders. Also doesn’t seem to work with VRay shadows (works, but no shadows cast or received by the H&F)
