Recently ran into a headache when working with my team in Enscape via Revit. We had set up a series of presentation views in Enscape, all linked with several view settings and had sun positions saved for each view. A new team member joined our model and started using Enscape to see render results (they did NOT open any of the saved presentation views, was just working in their own flying views). Somehow all the linked view settings and sun positions were erased from those presentation views all of a sudden, and we had to edit each and reset everything.
After talking to my office, this seemed like an on-going issue and has caused many frustration.
I want to reach out to the Enscape forum and see if anyone has experienced this situation with multiple users using Enscape in Revit central model environment. Can the Enscape team invest some time looking into this?
I guess it’d be a different topic but I’ve had experiences in the past with Enscape in Rhino too where when a model is passed on from someone else, saved views are there but would lose view setting and sun position information previously saved. I’m not sure if Enscape/Rhino and Enscape/Revit technically can be categorized as the same issue however, especially that Revit is a BIM/workshare platform vs. Rhino is a standalone.
Is there any fixes or workaround for this issue? Would really appreciate some input.
I really think Enscape team should look into this. As far as I know this is not an unfamiliar issue and has been around for a long time.
If a perfect solution is farfetched, a workaround such as being able to export the parameters tied to saved views (with its view settings, sun positions, etc.) perhaps in the form of a simple note file can save a lot of trouble!
Over the time I get to learn that spelling out the issue on the forum won’t get the issue resolved. Going to Help Center (https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests) is kind of the only way to receive developer response.
I still think using the forum and make people able to search through the threads and posts are going to help future users who run into similar issue / or at least be informed about the state regarding when the bug / issue will be resolved in the next build.
Thank you very much for your comprehensive input, @FinTectonic . In order for us to properly investigate the exact cause(s) behind this further, it’d be ideal if you could please submit this behavior through a support report as detailed here.
Doing so will also transfer any of your generated log files, as well as your machine’s specifications as a whole (incl. driver dates). Feel free to let me know once submitted so that I can confirm we’ve received your report properly. It also suffices if you simply include a link to this thread in the report’s submission form for reference.
@Pieter_2 , just to make sure, did you previously forward this to the support team by any chance as well? Just so I can look up any prior cases in which we (the support team) were trying to find the culprit. Otherwise, no worries, of course.
Yes I discussed this on a call with the development team. It sounded like this was a well known issue. I think going through the support team for this is going to be a waste of their and my time.
Thanks a lot for the feedback, Pieter. I’ve just sent you a direct message where it would be great to receive additional details or information I’ve just requested to make sure I’m not missing anything. I’ll also inform the dev team directly thereafter regarding re-reviewing this behavior.
