New AI Asset Generation in Cosmos!

Hi everyone!

This was announced in the thread at New AI Asset Generation now in Cosmos which contains helpful pointers on using it.

THIS thread though is for you to give us your feedback about it. I’ve started it in the Issues board because being a beta, most likely you will have some good feedback on how it can be improved, so this seemed like the most sensible place!

Try it out, and let us know your thoughts and suggestions!

Hi Tom, Its really great to have this tool directly into cosmos like material generator

Does this has a limitation? I mean, how many models can I generate?

Ive trouble seen the object in wireframe I have converted to mesh and still doesnt show in viewport, I have tried unhide them by vertex and nothing changes

Hi! TY for being straight in there to testing!

On visibility, first it comes in REALLY tiny - a known issue that should be fixed in time :frowning: So be sure to scale up. Next it comes in as a Proxy, set to Wireframe Box display, and swapping that to full mesh should get it to show up (once scaled up not to be the size of an atom lol!)

On limitations, I believe there are none right now while in beta - after the beta period ends, I don’t know how it will work, I’d assume it will be via the credits system (since running the generation does ofc cost us money :open_mouth: ), but that is for others to decide, with my focus being on its functionality and usefulness lol!

It actually surprised me in testing with how good it was. I wouldn’t say you can use it to create a hero object, but for a mid-ground or background object, to fill out your scene with specific items based on your design or client requests, it seems like it should be very useful - though that will be for y’all to tell us

Hope this helps! If you still have visibility issues, let us know.

Ah you could just mean seeing the wireframe of the model, not that the model is completely hidden. Yeah that won’t work for a Mesh, you just get a solid outline, or a filled in textured version depending on your viewport display mode. To be honest, seeing wireframe would likely be unpleasant, for the same reason that it explodes when converted to an Editable Poly  The way generation works gives items that render well, BUT not ones that edit well, at least with the technology of today :frowning:

It could be useful to have more options for generated maps too, right now It created Albedo, metallic and roughnes with pure white color, what about normal map or bump? I hope that will be implemented in the final version

TY, keep the suggestions coming!

Oh, also, I just wanted to confirm it is free in beta, no credits used up, so no restrictions, as we want people to try it out without worrying that once you test it twice there are no more generations lol!

Something I forgot to mention is that I cannot drag/drop images into the Image tab, only using the + sign

01

Also, What kind of properties and settings do u recommend to use for the image in order to avoid errors and holes?

Finally…Could it be a way to have Cosmos as an external tool in order to generate this objects without the need to open 3ds max?

Yep that part is included in my instructions  It says drag and drop but it doesn’t work and you have to open it and use file explorer to load the image - for now at least heh!

Mesh generation is a very nice addition. However without ability to edit the generated mesh (currently non-editable vray proxy object) it can only be of very limited use in real world scenario.
